Marvel Select Wolverine Action Figure Review

Get your toy box out. You're gonna need to make room for another one, bub.

If you talked to me back in March, I wouldn't have been able to tell you what I was looking forward to more, The Wolverine movie or the Marvel Select Wolverine action figure. If you want to know about the movie, I suggest you go see it (I loved it). If you want to know about the action figure, grab a burger, get comfortable, and hold on tight, because I'm going to tell you all about it.

The Wolverine action figure depicts Hugh Jackman as Logan a.k.a. Wolverine and stands at 7 inches tall. It's one of the heavier figures I have in my collection. It doesn't come with a base stand but the figure is so thick and sturdy that you don't really need one. Plus, it comes with a whole bunch of interchangeable body parts, so I don't think the lack of a base stand is a negative.

Just because it's sturdy doesn't mean it's stiff. I've stressed this before and it's worth saying again. Action figures these days are becoming more and more articulated. You can move his legs, knees, feet, upper arms, elbows, wrists, head, and upper chest. This allows for a lot of movement rather than a figure that's just there.

By now you're probably thinking "OK, I get it, but what about the claws!?" Well, this figure comes with two sets of claws! You can change between his bone claws and his adamantium claws. But wait, there's more! He also comes with a set of regular hands that can hold a really sweet samurai sword (two hands...always...) That's three options of how you can make Logan kick some butt. It doesn't stop there! The figure also comes with three interchangeable heads. All of these extra parts allow for a ton of versatility with this action figure.

There's a lot of detail in this action figure. The action figure is extremely muscular and defined, as Logan is in the movie. The hair on his body is also finely painted on as opposed to just some light shading. The face really looks like Hugh Jackman's so you can tell immediately that this figure is modeled after Logan from The Wolverine.

This is one of those total package action figures where you can enjoy it just sitting on the shelf and you can enjoy playing around with it. So is it for kids? Is it for adults? Hey, with the exception of some small parts that might not be great for really young children, I can see anyone enjoying spending some time with this action figure.

At the end of the day, for me personally, I'm looking for a figure that looks cool. The Marvel Select Wolverine action figure more than satisfies on that front. I don't think the interchangeable body parts are necessary because it's such a great figure, but they're a great bonus and make this figure more than worth what it costs.
